Notify your veterinarian if your animal suffers from kidney or liver disease. Doxycycline may increase skins sensitivity to sunlight. Store at room temperature. Allergic reactions and serious side effects are rare, but in the case of an allergic reaction or a serious side effect you should stop doxycycline treatment and seek veterinary attention. Some common signs of allergic reactions and serious side effects are hives, breathing difficulty, facial swelling, loss of appetite, or dark colored urine.

be aware that antacids containing magnesium, aluminum, or calcium, calcium supplements, iron products, and laxatives containing magnesium interfere with doxycycline, making it less effective. Take doxycycline 2 hours before or 6 hours after taking antacids, calcium supplements, and laxatives containing magnesium. Take doxycycline 2 hours before or 4 hours after iron preparations and vitamin products that contain iron.
